Etchings in the Sand…

Thoughts and Photos from the Desert…

I like Scrooge…

In some ways, I have always admired Ebenezer Scrooge.

For one thing he embodies all the negative experiences, attitudes and reservations I have about the commercial Christmas, while, at the same time, affirming the possibility of an eventual redeeming sense of genuine compassion.

But the best thing for me is how much he learned from his own past, present and future by careful and colorful looks inside himself, directed by some wonderful ghosts and a former business partner. Do that and there is hope.
