Fire In the Sky…

Sometimes, in the desert, the sunset seems to reveal fire up in the sky.

Go Down Death…

With the passing of Barbaro and the demonstrations of elders who want a voice in when they can die, one’s thoughts linger on dying this morning.

If and when I have had about all I can take and if hospice doesn’t seem to suffice, I would hope that my Dr. would be compassionate and wise enough to allow me to have a voice in what it means to die in dignity on my own terms.

I don’t trust or want the political process or even the church to make such a personal decision for me. Dying is about as personal as it gets.

On Moving…

We’re about eleven months away from what will probably be our final move. In retirement, a smaller place to live.

With the move comes dramatic and maybe traumatic getting rid of some  nice stuff that took 57 years to accumulate.

Then there’s the making of our home of twenty years look brand new so it will sell.

Finally, the move and a brand new “casita.”

Adventurous times!

Mac is King…

Won’t be hearing from me today. There’s a MacIntosh festival right here in Sun City West and I can’t resist that.

See you later.

Psalms 3…

For our third session in the Psalms course we featured our Senior Pastor and our Choir Director. We delved into the Psalms as a vital factor in worship.

Very lively, especially when we learned to chant the Psalms together which the new ELC Worship Book makes possible. After just a short time the 50 or so members of our class sounded like monastery veterans – and felt increasingly at home with a music form not commonly used by Protestants. It was hypnotic, joyful and full of mystery.
