Etchings in the Sand…

Thoughts and Photos from the Desert…

Mystery…

Rich thought from “Northwoods Contemplative“:

“The first requirement for even
partial encounter with mystery, then, is to be willing to surrender
one’s habitual tendencies to either solve or ignore mystery.
Secondly,
one must be willing to risk some degree of fear.
These two conditions
combine to make up what in my understanding is the essence of
contemplative spirituality: the willingness and courage to open
yourself to mystery.”
~Gerald May, in Will and Spirit.

Surrender and fear to access mystery. I think I can do that. Well, the fear part. Surrender is a little harder. I miss the beautiful photo of you and your wife and the description of yourself. Is it somewhere else?

Thanks for sharing this. And it led me to the Northwoods blog and that fellow is a truly wonderful poet. Thanks!
