Etchings in the Sand…

Thoughts and Photos from the Desert…

Yesterday we visited the Phoenix Art Museum and feasted on the works of photographer Richard Avidon, the original manuscripts and related matters regarding the art and calligraphy of the amazing new St. John’s Bible from Collegeville, Minn. and some of the masterpieces from great painters from all over the world and back through centuries of history.

We both felt enriched and overwhelmed with he aura of greatness that pervaded the place. What a day!

The Saint John’s Bible is indeed a masterpiece. And you’ll have to excuse me if I’m a little biased. 🙂

I’m not biased, but the rest of the museum faded compared to the Saint John’s Bible. Some of those illuminations said more than the much loved words. (were there on the 29th)
