Shoot What You Love…

Joe McNally’s delightful new book, The Moment It Clicks, advises photographers to “shoot what you love.”

This is therapeutic – and not just for photographers.

One of the strange paradoxes of life is that we are always searching for things to discover, highlight, emphasize, shoot. The harder one looks for things to shoot, the more difficult it becomes to find them.

Truth is, they’re all around us, waiting for us to notice them. Often they are simple little things that call to us by name – gifts of grace – plain, ordinary stuff, but still kindred spirits. Angels unaware. Waiting to be discovered and celebrated.

The sacramental life.

Thanks for alerting me to McNally’s book. The sentiment is right in line with how I want to work and live.
